چکیده

environmental impact assessment is an important approach to achieve sustainable development. this study has investigated the environmental impact of sugar beet production. in addition data envelopment analysis was applied for detecting efficient units and decrease environmental impacts. in this study final environmental index of impact category consist of global warming, acidification, eutrophication, depletion of fossil resources and water resources were 0.138, 2.359, 2.055, 0.191 and 2.970, respectively. based on these results, depletion of water resources had the greatest environmental impact. global warming among other groups had minimal environmental impact. data envelopment analysis can decrease burden of these impacts by converting present farms to target units. results demonstrated ccr model decrease impact categories more than bcc model.

Cellulase Production by Trichoderma reesei using Sugar Beet Pulp

Cellulase production by the fungus Trichoderma reesei was studied using sugar beet pulp (SBP) as a substrate. The subculture medium was a salt solution consisting of KH2PO4, CaCl2, etc. Fungal cells were sub-cultured in an orbital shaker (180 rpm) at 30°C for 1-2 generations (two days for each generation) and were then used as an inoculum. Exponential cells were inoculated into a medium contain...

Measuring Economic Efficiency of Kidney Bean Production using Non-Discretionary Data Envelopment Analysis

Efficient use of assets in agriculture is a goal for policy-makers and farmers. Agricultural input resources are scarce therefore optimum use of inputs in different agricultural operations is important. Mathematical programming technique such as data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a well-known approach for estimation efficiency of agricultural DMUs. In this study, efficiency of kidney bean produ...

Efficiency in the Worst Production Situation Using Data Envelopment Analysis

Data envelopment analysis (DEA) measures relative efficiency among the decision making units (DMU) without considering noise in data. The least efficient DMU indicates that it is in the worst situation. In this paper, we measure efficiency of individual DMU whenever it losses the maximum output, and the efficiency of other DMUs is measured in the observed situation. This efficiency is the minim...

Measuring the efficiency of a three-stage network using data envelopment analysis approach considering dual boundary

This paper presents a method for performance evaluation, ranking and clustering based on the double-frontier view to analyze the complex networks. The model allows us to open the structure of the “black box” and can help to obtain important information about efficient and inefficient points of the system. In this paper, we consider a three-stage network, in respect to the additional desirable a...

Improving envelopment in data envelopment analysis by means of unobserved DMUs: an application of banking industry

In data envelopment analysis, the relative efficiency of a decision making unit (DMU) is defined as the ratio of the sum of its weighted outputs to the sum of its weighted inputs allowing the DMUs to freely allocate weights to their inputs/outputs. However, this measure may not reflect a the true efficiency of a DMU because some of its inputs/outputs may not contribute reasonably in computing t...
